Lying and falsifying intelligence data to wage a phony war in violation of the US Constitution has a major "direct and predictable effect on that interest."

And even federal officials who are covered by the law may legally own a financial interest in a company, provided they formally recuse themselves -- stand aside -- from making decisions that would have a "direct and predictable effect on that interest." And Cheney says he's done just that.,/I>

Exactly what I keep saying!!! cheney profits from his HAL stock options by enjoying the huge tax deductions from donating them, he also gets to specify when to exercise them thus making sure he zeros out his taxes in the years of his choosing. The higher HAL goes the more cheney profits from HAL stock options. Evil personified. Speaking of which, where is AG TortureBoy? Why isn't he doing his job and arresting cheney for this crime?

The "Gift Trust Agreement" the Cheney's signed two days before he took office turns over power of attorney to a trust administrator to sell the options at some future time and to give the after-tax profits to three charities.

If Kerry gave Heinz a 10 billion dollar no-bid contract and let them rip us off you wouldn't think it would be corrupt and wrong?

Yeah right.

Of course Cheney orchetsrtaed the huge Halliburton deal. They would have have given HAL such a deal without Cheney's OK. It's a clear conflict of interest and obvious corruption. Textbook corruption.
