I was in Cuba a year ago last October--Habana, Trinidad, Jatibonico, Santa Clara. Sad and beautiful, the beautiful old buildings along the harbor in Havana (blanking on the name of the street along the sea) crumbling in neglect. No boats along the beautiful coastline, quite the contrast to Florida. People begging for any way possible to separate you from the smallest amount of cash. Worth the trip to see before Castro goes to his reward, the fruit of valiant, irrelevant efforts and (perhaps) unintended consequences and cruelty.

Jogged by the Swiss embassy heavily guarded by Cubans. They denied there was a US interests section in the building, but also denied everyone trying to approach within 25 yards or so. They stopped us trying to cross the street in an attempt to see it closer and ask them why all the heavy arms presence.
