Don't count on it. The U.S. troop presence will decline significantly next year. Then we'll have 2 years of seeing how the constitutionally elected Iraqi government sinks or swims. My guess is that they will swim, because they will have no choice. That will represent a resounding success for Democracy in the heart of the Arab world.

Come 2008, the Republicans are going to have one hell of a success story to talk about. What are the Democrats going to have? Just bitter complaints that they never get their way. It's business as usual for the Democrats: bitch and moan, but offer no solutions.

You know what gets me angry? The fact that Democrats are so dominated by liberals like you, they can't get their heads out of their asses long enough to attract a significant voting base to get elected. I want a strong Democratic party, but with people like you as their main constituents, they will never gain traction. And that is upsetting to me, because I'd actually like to see a gov't that is a little more close to center than the current Republican leanings.
