<In the current case a person in ignorance created the situation where those who put their life on the line have to live with the knowledge the killed an innocent man.>

Do you think they feel as bad as the dead person's mother, father, wife, children, brother, sister, friends etc?

I think they'll cope okay. They were obviously keen to do that job and disassemble somebody's head using a gun, or they would have got a job as a bus conductor.

People who don't want to shoot missiles into other people get jobs that don't involve firing guns.

If they are paranoid and see danger everywhere, lurking in bulky jackets, and running people [just as dogs impulsively attack and bark at running people], then they are the clear and present danger and must be terminated.

Maybe they could be given teeth and told to bark at passersby who look suspicious.
