I do not use it as empty rhetoric but rather in the sense that as long as the cause is justified then we must continue to stand up for it, regardless of retractive complaints.

Of course it makes very nice political rhetoric. I want us out too, sincerely. I doubt that you could find too many individuals who want any occupying force to exist anywhere on the planet. I want peace, that is pretty universal too. So beyond those statements of rhetoric what do we want for our fellow men? We want them to have the autonomy of their person and peaceful coexistence with others. It is an obligation for persons of conscience to support that cause. Abandoning our role in that responsibility as a reaction to political rhetoric and social pressure is not acceptable.
