<"We need to be very vigilant and look for early signals or signs of sustained human to human transmission," >

The signals will not be smoke signals or other signals. The communication method will involve rows of dead people.

As usual, it will be too late. They will shut the cockpit door AFTER the terrorists have walked in with their box-cutters. Then, the survivors will belatedly find out how it happened and make sure it never happens again. Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat this cliche and they will repeat it on and on and make sure it never happens again.

We need to not be vigilant for early signals [such as sick and dead people], we need immunity and preferably H5N1 killed off. If it means reducing bird populations and eating fish and sheep and cattle and wheat, rice, lentils, peaches, apples and stuff, then that's worth doing.

Running a breeding zone in domestic animals for the production of H5N1 which those who know say will definitely recombine and reassort their DNA with human influenza is crazy. The value of all the chickens and eggs and ducks in the world isn't as great as the value of 100 million people who might die as a result and the rest of the human population will notice a major economic crunch in their way of life.

No doubt it won't be back to the stone age, but it'll certainly lower property values and solve the unfunded old age social security problem which is looming [dead people don't collect benefits and old people die more than young ones from influenza].

Personally, I'd prefer property values to remain up, economic systems to thrive and people to live, especially me; even if I'm getting old and crusty.
