I did. Germany in fact did well in the 1950's and 60's on a par almost with China for the last couple of decades. But I was asking for a contemporary example that matches China. Germany then was a much different animal anyway. It was a technically very sophisticated country ruined by war. One would expect a much different recovery from that, than the bootstrapping of a third world country as China is doing.

BTW, the Spiegel article would appear to showcase a major Chinese advantage, no significant social safety net. Not sure how true that is, as the lack of said safety net could bring trouble not correctly accounted for in the Spiegel article, but...
