What are you, Steve?

If the Europeans were more enlightened, they wouldn't be banning expressions of religion, they would be celebrating all religions in public and private forums, and thus, helping to breed tolerance and integration.

If the Christians and the Muslims were more enlightened they would be teaching math, science, and proper grammar in church, thus helping to make productive educated people out of their flocks!

In the US, we have a very integrative society in part precisely because we have celebrated all religions...

That is mainly because the US has always been an immigration country and has thus always had good and common sense immigration laws, give or take a few stupidities in election years and in the wake of 9/11. Controlled immigration is the recipe and as a consequence the Muslims in the US are mostly well educated and successful people. With values similar to most of us they have few problems if any to become proud and valuable members of our society.

In Europe, however, where immigration has but been tolerated in the wake of their colonies because French and UK passports used to be part of that - or just denied and neglected as a problem like in Germany, those making it in were mostly looking for a free ride in the generous and oh-so-human West European societies. The average level of education in the French and British Muslim enclaves is pretty close to what you find in huge back land areas of the Middle East. Quite different from the common citizens having lived for generations in the West European nations.
