A thought,
how can an atheist be offended by a religious symbol?

So who do you think is more scientific in their thinking, the atheist or the agnostic? It's the agnostic, clearly.

Ok, I will somewhat concede the point. But are you also agnostic about astrology, or any other metaphysical set of beliefs? From a scientific perspective, I assume things don't exist if there is no evidence suggesting they do. Occams razor. I would reserve agnostic to describe my views on anything where the evidence in favor counterbalances the evidence against. When there is no evidence in favor, and plenty of evidence against, from a scientific perspective, one must chose sides. Science is about the mean & deviation of evidence, it is NOT about logical truth or falseness. Many people don't understand that difference.

"Actually, it is firmly rooted in science. Think about the scientific method."

You are proposing a variation of Pascal's Wager. There are plenty of arguments against it, google it if you are interested. The problem is, there is no real reason to hypothesis God to begin with. That pretty much fails Occam's Razor.

You shouldn't mix faith and science. You get bad science and/or bad theology.

For what it is worth, I am in no way an atheist.

Can you prove to me that all of the Roman gods exist?

If you can't, then you should believe that they might. Right?
