Well, then find any other major country matching their compound annual growth rates from 1985 to 2005. India is the best other example, being democratic, but not faring as well during those years.

Regarding the growth rates, I do read such things. But projecting social behavior 45 years out is not very accurate. I expect such trends to fluctuate. The USA is a good example of that. Larger family size is trending up again, thus throwing off the population projections of a decade ago. The same will happen in Europe and Japan.

BTW, the Japanese are nuts about humanoid robots. I've worked in robotics with one of the biggest Japanese robot companies for a decade. I thought they were a bit wacko to keep doggedly perfecting these more or less worthless devices, but perhaps they have a plan after all!
