Oh, my. I looked in and found an eleven paragraph abstract and analytical commentary from LB. Didn't know you had it in you. I wasn't at all bored. <gg>

Well, I understood what you meant by the God Construct. I could not connect the dots to your proffer. I kinda got the internal/external. But your explanation defined your meaning well.

America, western civilization we have today is built primarily on those who with God as guide live lives of tolerance. There are those who have used intolerance to control and do great evil. And they have used God as part of the argument for the intolerance. To me it is obvious the Christian based tolerance is the foundation of American and current western civilization tolerance.

America is the place where people working together in tolerance created the wealth. The tolerance of American secular law is based upon a foundation of Christian live and let live.

The mindset of what I see as American values is based upon a foundation of Christian live and let live.

Everyone is my neighbor. That is the unique idea. As it has been truly followed, civilization has progressed. As it has been ignored and other intolerance substituted civilization suffered. The breath and depth of tolerance in America is what makes America so successful in the secular realm.

So I do not agree All the great acts of evil in the world have been driven by people who have been convinced they are doing "God's work," I can see your perspective, or how you see it, but I see your perspective as a poor representation of the true connections. In general we see only the tens of evil acts daily and never see the thousands of good acts. In America today how many millions did tens of millions of good deeds.

I would say the good America does and is doing is based upon the tolerance of Americans. That tolerance is doing God's work even for those believe there is no God. The goodness of the American people is based upon their idea of who is their neighbor. Again they do God's work. And a few will do evil, some thinking they do God's work, but I'd say more (Is is possible to not put any democrat leader in this group) simply fooling others misrepresenting their true motives.

Only 48% Americans voted for kerry.

PS, I don't have a temper, I speak directly when I see or believe I see grave errors in logic. And I use the best analogies I think are appropriate. I do believe I raise the tempers of others.

To be, or not to be. That is the question. <We all have an internal value system, but we don't normally articulate it. It is based on the reality of "life or death." When faced with this choice, we will chose life. Therefore, any code of values will choose life as the ultimate value. As Ayn Rand puts it in Atlas Shrugged,

"It is only the concept of 'life' that makes the concept of 'value' possible.
>

The internal value system is what we see in cats. Herding cats doesn't work.

The external value system is what we see in sheep. They flock and stampede, enforced by the teeth of the wolves.

People are half cat, half sheep. Some are more cat than sheep. Some more sheep.

Fleecing cats is hard work. Fleecing sheep is much easier and more profitable.

Rulers and authoritarians in general like sheep, not cats.

Watch people in airports and you will see sheep. With wolves lurking around them. I can see how Adolf and mates managed to keep the gas chambers stoked. Herding cats into those would have been a nightmare.

We need cat values. Internal values. Not sheep values.

But herd values are great for co-operative activity such as building Globalstar [even though the bosses ran it into the ground it was and still is a great thing]. Getting people to act like an intelligent herd of wolves is pretty powerful and successful.

To be a cat, or a sheep, or a wolf? That is the question.

Perhaps a human would be best.
