John C, Robots would not be quite as good as humans because as a machine there are more minor things that could crash the mission. I think that, in many cases, we have seen the problems caused by shoddy construction of all kinds of products made by union laborers.

Beside, from what I heard last night, the shuttle program has been shut down. When, and if, they get the crew of the Discovery back safely, that is the end of flights for an extended period.

there is no need for them . robots can do the work

At a snail's pace. Two humans can do the work of two robots in a fraction of the time. Costs more to get them there, but once there they can do alot more science on the ground.
