I still don't understand how 42,000 people die in USA from auto accidents...if we're so "advanced"?

Road safety is a peculiar topic. Other countries are even worse - a quarter of a million people are killed on the road in China each year.

I don't understand what you don't understand. Humans screw up, constantly. Just had a case here yesterday. Middle of the day, straight stretch of dry freeway, driver clean and sober, just dozed off and rolled it into the ditch. We're all just one breath away from death all the time.

once you see those foreign drivers with gov plates cross from passing lane to exit on the belt way you wonder why we don't have triple the number.
