I suspect so, since I don't think I quite understand your remark.

An individual cell cannot "decide" to become selfish. It is either programmed that way in the DNA, in which case it has consequences for the whole organism, or it doesn't. Any mutation or change that happens to a cell later may make it selfish, but if it doesn't change the DNA it won't be passed on to children anyway.

Most cancer happens to people who are already old enough to have had kids.
