I doubt if there is a single person on Si who has not done it. When one posts thousands of posts it WILL happen! One situation is when you open a post to yourself intending to elaborate on a previous post but then get distracted by some event in your home or simply by other SI windows open that you are reading, and you start into a different post having forgotten about your original intent which may have been quite unimportant. Then there are those who post the same post 4 times in a row because they mistakenly pay too little attention to what is occurring. I find it amazing that people find such faux pas to be important! But human nature is often difficult to fathom, isn't it?! "If you don't pay attention when you post, why should we?" By that argument...why should we pay attention to Einstein (you know--the fellow who forgot to wear shoes or cover his underwear!) I am sure this does not mean he wasn't paying attention to what he was considering or the problems he was working on. Anyway, if my accidentally putting my message in the wrong window made a big splash over here...then I am sure there must be a reason! :-)
