I kind of agree with Geoffrey Stone with respect to the Roberts nomination for the Supreme Court in that Huffingtonpost.

Conservatives who are not fanatics generally end up being "educated" during their time on the Supreme Court. Harry Blackmun is a prime example. He was appointed by Nixon and actually wrote Roe v. Wade.

I don't think the Roberts nomination is a fight worth picking. Granted, I would have chosen someone with a vastly different legal philosophy. He will certainly move the Court to the right in his early volleys. But I think time will work to the advantage of decent people.
