Gloria Steinem needs to make a road trip. Chepkurgor said his letter praised Clinton's leadership and commended his wife, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, for standing by her husband "like an African woman" in the face of the Monica Lewinsky scandal. As for Daley, it is possible that he will not run for re-election in the spring of 2007. The problem is that there are no logical successors. I am not sure that the city is ready for Rep. Jesse Jackson, though it is no longer beyond the realm of possibility. Patrick Fitzgerald is picking off the people around Daley one at a time. While it is still hard to imagine that Daley will ever be indicted, the political damage has been devastating. I know a lot of Chicago life-long Democrats that are dying to vote against him in the next election.
