Cheniere Louisiana Receiving Terminal Expansion Gets Regulatory Nod
biz.yahoo.com

HOUSTON (AP) -- Cheniere Energy Inc. said Friday the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission said that, with mitigating measures, the expansion of its liquid natural gas receiving terminal under construction in Cameron Parish, La., won't significantly affect the environment.

The company is developing three liquid natural gas terminals along the U.S. Gulf Coast.

Cheniere said it applied to expand its Sabine Pass liquefied natural gas receiving terminal in June 2005, to capacity of 4 billion cubic feet per day from 2.6 billion.

Construction has been underway since March 2005. The terminal is scheduled to start up in early 2008. Production from the newly approved expansion is expected to begin in 2009.

Shares of Cheniere rose 28 cents to close at $43.03 on the American Stock Exchange. The stock climbed 5 cents more in after-hours trading.
