This goose is cooked. I think NASA should send the shuttle up unmanned, finish ISS, and pull the plug.

I was born at the Cape, literally, and grew up with rockets. I sit in my office below a plaque from NASA given to my Dad for his work on the Apollo program. He was at the Cape for early Gemini on to Skylab. As much as I hate to agree with your assessment, I think it's the prudent course. This is not my father's NASA.

Manned spaceflight/exploration is our one hope for survival, but the Shuttle needs to be put up at the Smithsonian along with the Mercury/Gemini and others. The trend is definitely toward the privatization of space flight, am eager to see what can be done.

Why finish the space station. It was just invented to give the shuttles something to do anyway.

foam fell off the external fuel tank during this week's launch

Not ONE story in the MSM on this has mentioned the freon connection. I can't believe that's accidental.
