I have always, and still do, maintain that if one has nothing to hide, he would not object to cameras

I used to have serious reservations about public space video surveilance, but not anymore. I was much more "troublesome" in the past, though. <g>

I think Americans are just uneasy about such a pervasive governmental presence. Brings to mind "Big Brother".

I am all for survelliance cameras. If nothing else I believe they would cut down on crime in general. I remember I lived in Pittsburgh during the race riots in the 70's (forget the dates anymore). We had national guard troops on every corner and even in the lobby of the apartment building I lived in. Crime virtually STOPPED during that period. jdn

we had a nurse rn going into work at 4:30am one morning. she gets off the bus and a block from hospital guy comes up from behind her and shoots her in the back of the head and runs off.

It was no robbery! woman age 48 married and believe a teenager or two at home.

The buildings in the area had security cameras and it caught the whole thing on film. However it was grainy. these security cameras all need to be upgraded to better pictures and ability to focus.

It took philly detectives about three or four weeks but they got the guy. A real nut case. mental problems he was after because she shot him with radiation or something using a machine. he was a repairman. later they find he killed a couple more people. A pastor of a church, etc

aclu back off! I also support traffic cameras for intersections... give you tickets out to drivers going through red lights ,, also give tickets out for speeders. just send them automatic through the mail. It will bring down accidents and deaths. Why would people fight putting in a camera to ticket people driving through red lights? Or speeding in congested city streets?
