It is fear that the process will continue to creep. At some point, it will be quite feasible to wear clothing with embedded cameras, both for your own safety as well as to induce you not to stray from the paths of good behavior. I have mixed feelings on the subject, but in general don't mind trading some privacy for better security. But look at the discussion wrt to China on this thread. In some sense, China is doing precisely that, trading individual freedoms for collective stability in its economic development. Many people here don't like that at all. I think the jury is still out on the subject.
