I liked the bits about delusional and Chinese buy anything that isn't Chinese :)

The rest of it didn't make much sense. I like Mauldin's letters in general.

India will have marginal effects, maybe 3-5%.

But I would not want to be in those industries where there is China internal competion + India external competition.

What India might be is a source for low cost assembly work for Japan, Malaysia, Korea, Taiwan, etc.

*******

Africa vs. China

China has 90% adult literacy with a common written language
Africa has literacy issues in many countries.

China has effective public health systems.
Africa is interesting.

After training ten people for six months, three of them get malaria. How much fun is that ?

What happens when your high powered managers get some tropical disease ?

China has one common currency, a functioning highway system, water ways, etc.

Okay, what percentage of adult Africans either own a watch or can tell time ?

How many can show up at an appointment 10 days in the future at a fixed time and place ?

**********

Somebody will do the pioneering work to get Africans organized to participate in manufacturing and commerece.

It won't be me or my money.
Might be my tax dollars....(sigh)
