Well heck, then he matches many if not most Americans. -gggg-

In his presentation, he basically left us to think about it but gave out three popular views and some unpopular ones as to what to do. Kennedy and some other Senator I don't recall want to do yet another amnesty citizenship grant for those that have been here at least 2 years. (Didn't we do 2 of these already just in the last 10 years or so under Clinton?) The most extreme was to post military at the border.

You can not hold it against those coming here, if this is a better life, then you have to feel for them and understand why they want to come. On the other hand, we have a legal way to do it and could allow more in legally if we weren't having to compensate for the illegal ones showing up.

As a nation, we also want to be able to pick and choose who we allow in. More Educated professionals, programmers and even blue collar trades, but we need to be able to try and balance our needs with who we allow in.

I am bearish long term and am afraid tings could get very ugly in about 20 years. I have gone so far as to look at where I could take my family if things got really bad. Australia has an age limit in the 40 year old area on immigration so I looked to New Zealand which has a higher age age limit which is also waivable for certain skills and wealth levels. I found a pdf file of the trades for each year of what they are looking for to apply. We should have the same thing.

EDIT - Looks like they updated their website and now have the list on a regular popup. Here ar ehte jobs the Kiwis are looking for to migrate in......
