Barnes doesn't strike me as a raging bull, rather his conclusions resonate with Mauldin's "muddle through" economy. If past is prologue then there is a high likelihood that they are correct, as the last 3 to 4 years fit this scenario to a "T". Their scenario seems to me to be the odds on favorite for the next few years. There are persuasive arguments for many alternatives to this "muddle through" economy, i.e. deflationary collapse, inflationary boom. etc. But it would appear the forces pushing in those directions are just cancelling each other out and we will just keep stumbling along. Not necessarily a bad thing, just difficult to make much money.
I am glad I managed to max out several Treasury Direct accounts over the last few years. What radical investing! Savings Bonds!.
