It's impossible to pinpoint the reason we removed the Baathists from power. I only look at the results of the invasion and work backwards from there. I think the political balance of power in Iraq and Iran for the Shi'a is critical to long term stability in the ME. It will certainly maintain free market access to oil supplies. If you want to say that oil was the reason we invaded, there is nothing I can say to change your opinion. Initially, I held the same private views, but I think the evidence of religious sponsored terrorism overwhelms oil as being the only reason that we had to get that area under control.
