Unlike you, I think that tremendous amounts of time has been undoubtedly been spent in identifying what motivates radicals and their sympathizers, and that an even greater amount of time and energy has been spent identifying and utilizing methods to reduce the number of sympathizers. It would be madness not to, and the people in the CIA, State Department, Defense Department, and Office of the President are not mad, despite repeated accusations to the contrary.

As I think the 2006 elections will likely restore the Democrats to power, I am content to wait for the endless hearings into who said what when and who did what when to find out the real answers. The hearings themselves will be extremely politicized and accomplish little but the documents produced will be interesting reading.

I can't help saying that your post reads like a talking points memo to me. JMO, of course.

You have been dancing around the DNC party line since you started posting here. Now you are directly using it. At least we will have not more equivocating from you.

neolib, you are conflating the Islamists with all of the Sunni Iraqi insurgents. This is a big mistake, as many of the Islamists aren't even Iraqi, and their interests are quite different from the Sunni/Baathist/nationalist Iraqi insurgents. The Iraqis know they have to come to some arrangement with the Sunni nationalists, whether by negotiation or war. With the jihadis there is no use talking.
