I'm short a bunch of high beta stuff on the assumption that the index is going down, but till Friday it didn't... To pick a housing stock at this stage of the game and short it because some time house prices might go down doesn't make much sense to me. Either you want to find firms or a whole sector in trouble (and for a small investor unless you have special knowledge you want to make sure the chart confirms that) or you want to deal with the index IMO and that's TA too.
