If the left wingers join in the fight against radical Islam after another serious attack on American soil, it will be like the Communist Party in the forties deciding to support FDR after Germany invaded Russia. Before that the American CP castigated FDR as a fascist, because Stalin has signed a non-aggression pact with Hitler. It's hard for me to imagine the left taking radical Islam seriously enough to make peace with the right. I sincerely hope there isn't another attack that is bad enough to wake up the left, because it would have to be very bad attack, indeed.
