This seems to be a defining separation between the left and the right, one side believes the mean to destroy us because of what we do and the other side believes they mean to destroy us because of who we are. Either way we will never be able to completely prove or disprove either position. We will always maintain a strong influence over the Persian Gulf area because of its oil, so even if they would forget the past grievances real or imagined, we will always protect our interests in the area. Of course even if it were not for oil, it takes a rather naive view to ignore their stated goals of ruling the world.

What they say is death to American BECAUSE of our actions NO, they are not. They were attacking us long before we did anything to them. They want to rule an Islamist world. I am tired of your terrorist apologetics. Cease them or take a hike.

What they say is death to American BECAUSE of our actions What they say is death to America because that is what they say, that is their message. Death to the other, death to whatever opposes them, death to anything that will not submit to their dominance. Death to themselves, even, if they cannot dominate...they will gladly destroy themselves along with the other. This is a deep sickness, the symptom of deeply dysfunctional worldview, on both a personal and cultural level. America's "actions" are just a convenient external peg, a pretext, an excuse. Whatever action America might take would still be used to justify them saying death to America. Or death to whomever is closest to them who might display the gall to oppose or resist them. The tipping point is not what WE do. Our "actions" are fungible. They're prepared to kill regardless. Some here forget that part.

What they say is death to American BECAUSE of our actions. Well, we say death to Al Qaeda because of their actions, and there's more of us and we're better armed. And we're not stupid enough to think that appeasing them is going to make them stop trying to kill us. They won't settle for anything less than the return of the Caliphate, at a minimum, in every country where it formerly existed, including Spain, India, Eastern Europe, all of Northern Africa, and the entire Middle East all the way to China. And we're not going to let them have that. So too bad for Al Qaeda. So sad.
