Besides I wasn't a tourist.
You couldn't have been if you ever actually were in Saudi. They don't issue tourist visas. And you have to have a visa to get in.

These days on Friday evenings, long back-ups form at the Saudi-Bahrain border as the good non-drinking Muslims head in to Bahrain to get a cool intoxicating one.

As far as alcohol is concerned, it is illegal in Saudi. Shari'a, remember? Not that that stops it. It is known to be fairly freely available in the Western compounds, among other places. I was offered booze by a Westerner when I was there. I would have nothing to do with it. I understand the inside of Saudi jails are rather unpleasant places and I stayed in a hotel, not a compound. The Saudi heat, including the religious police, could nab you any time they wanted. The religious police regularly raided the hotel because it was part of a Western chain and would not enforce the veil requirement.

And from what I've seen, you libs have the patent on Posting Under the Influence around here.

Here's your boys! Enjoy!
