I post a link where when american companies downsize they cut the key people they couldn't afford to cut who pass on those SECRETS that slagle and jay were talking about - they recognize this and now trying to make up for the brain drain.

I agree, this guy from GM basically told us to take that operations management textbook and rip out about half of it. It was outdated.

He was a real world warrior, not theorist with no practical experience. I think higher schools of education have gotten better with this and realize they got to bring in some of these real world experience EL Mat's to pass on the good stuff. I see mega cuts at IBM over my time there, got rid of a lot of weeds, but thier scythe took down too many of the seeds they needed as well. In some ways this was helpful , freed up the el mats from those chains to do things not entrenched by all that red corporate tape of a large company.
Please when you get tired of your work - take a few months and go teach some courses and save these poor college kids who are reading the textbooks that are outdated.

I was meeting too many in the ivory towers in college who just had no common sense to them - this GM guy took the department head to task in a few discussions - he did not last long at the university - was making fools out of the entrenched academics and thier pet theories that he had real world experience with - how could they argue thier theory when he said no this is how it really played out when I was down there at the factory? I have to rely on you and Jay and other people out there looking at things with thier own 2 eyes. Jim Rogers type stuff I guess. Not to say the academics are wrong, that is a good fundamental base - but the world is dynamic and textbooks don't change as fast.
