I bet you bought Enron and Worldcom in 2000, too.

From april of this year:

"...Goldman Sachs said that the oil market may be in the early stages of a "super spike", which could push prices as high as $105 a barrel....

This would result in "a multi-year trading band of oil prices high enough to meaningfully reduce energy consumption and recreate a spare capacity cushion only after which will lower prices return"...."

news.bbc.co.uk

Even at these prices, SUV sales have been hurt. What happens to the economy above $80 bbl? I can't imagine what $100+ bbl would do.

I dub this one the BUSH STEALTH TAX INCREASE. In this scenario, Bush simply taxes the overworked American Family but the tax goes directly to the oil companies' bulging coffers.

There's no need for government handling of the money, just a direct tranfer of wealth via this BUSH STEALTH TAX INCREASE.
