That would dispose of that particular objection. OTOH apparently there was some objection to capturing the image of the driver. I'm not sure what the specific objection was, something about privacy probably. I'm not sure I share the objection, at least not the extent that it would be enough to cause me to not support red light cameras if I would otherwise support them.

In VA they aren't as bad as DC. They are less common, and I believe you only get a fine, not points. (I wonder about insurance though, does the insurance company get the records and treat them the same as if there where points involved, in terms of raising your rates?). Also I haven't heard of as many games played with short yellows or putting the cameras on lights near the bottom of a steep hill.

If I could be talked in to supporting any of these cameras, it would be red-light cameras over speeding cams. I'm not convinced that the speeding cams can be reliable enough, plus I think many speed limits are too low so I'm not for aggressive enforcement by any method. Still at this time I'm not a supporter of red light cameras either.

Tim

I need to go to court tomorrow for a camera-red-light thing. They sent me a copy of the photo with the citation. I assume the original is in color but the photo they sent me, I can't even see the traffic light to tell the color by position.

I could just pay the $50 but figured, what the hey.

No way can they see the driver. I assume it's me driving but even I am not sure, although it's definitely my car. Car's in both our names but my name is first, I guess that's why they are accusing me.

The citation has the date and place for the trial but no time. I assume it's the usual time (9:30).
