I got a speeding ticket in New York in 1967, one near home in 2004, and one in Polson Montana in June. All were on straight stretches just after a stop or a right angle turn where I was accelerating after almost zero speed. The last two tickets were in my RAM 2400 turbo diesel. It has so much torque it is very easy to get going too fast unless I really watch the speedometer. Since then I have been watching the speed limit religiously, but it is still hard to avoid going over.

I never got a speeding ticket in my 442 when I really deserved it. On the Pennsylvania Turnpike after work on Friday, I would drive 600 miles to Columbus, Ohio to see my fiance (now my wife). A couple of times I ran her up to see how fast she would go (the 442 that is), and I got scared at 125. Maybe the cops couldn't catch me. Or maybe they were in bed because it was 2 am.

My family jokes that I drive so slow that I can't even catch the icecream truck. I guess I showed them with two tickets in two years, huh! They could hardly believe it.
