I believe he is (perhaps much more so them his 'country club' religious right opponent). More important then even that though, I believe his generally Libertarian views (fighting against the sprawl and endless growth of Big Daddy Government, supporting traditional individual rights against Big Daddy's endless attempts to usurp them) points a way forward out of the stalemate and toxic sludge of current national political life... a set of coherent policies around which a great majority could be built.
