China is becoming important business travel market

"Most of our customers to China are on business trips, but they also consider arranging sightseeing activities," said Sanpeep Jain, president of American Panorama travel agency.

He made these remarks at the China International Business Travel Exhibition in Beijing Tuesday. Over 2,000 people registered for the exhibition, including those from foreign companies, such as Nokia, BMW and Motorola.

China's rapid business travel market is providing more and more opportunities for the whole tourism industry, said Huang Quanrong, vice president of Reed Exhibition Group.

According to a survey by American Express, by 2020, China is expected to become the world's largest business travel market, overtaking the United States. China is now the world's third largest business travel market.

Huang said many foreign companies only choose Beijing, Shanghai and Guilin as their conference venues. How to promote more destinations in China is a new challenge.

Compared with the global average of a four percent increase rate, China's business travel market will grow above 10 percent in the near future. By 2020, China will attract over 137 million international business travelers, occupying 8.6 percent of the world share.
