I'll go you one better.

In Ca. if you like your house and really don't want to move but salivate at the equity you're sitting on, then work hard at finding a bubble buyer that will pay you the top dollar and sign a fixed five year rental agreement with him. If I understand the present game correctly, the protected income will appeal to them and you get to await the abyss and play it all over again.

There has got to be an opportunity here somewhere for the entrenched home owner. Time to be creative.
