Not that I'd really expect any politician to do that, but anything less is not holding oneself accountable for the results.

People didn't like John Kerry because they considered him aloof, but Bush is at least as much so.

Lots of reasons why people didn't like Kerry. Biggest reason is that he really couldn't stand firm on any issue. Kind of a no-brainer for Rove to take advantage of.


What I remember Rove doing was discrediting Kerry by rounding up and promoting the Swifties. Like many people, I was surprised that Rove would go that far........attacking a military person while the country was fighting a war in Iraq. But then, we all underestimated the malignancy that is Rove and the RNC.
