"we can't figure out how it happened, so God must have done it." If you water that down just a tad to "so God may have done it" the problem goes away, IMO.

Well based upon my understanding of the laws of nature. I do not see at all your proffer. "we can't figure out how it happened, so God must have done it." The fact all objective laws of nature suggest that no life should exist leads to the conclusion the agregation of complexity represented in the simplest of cellular life shows what it could not have been. If it could not have been un-intelligent random luck, "Intelligent Design" seems the only logical alternative.
