It appears everyone has left the thread and forgot to turn the lights off or perhaps some weird sort of cyber-Mexican standoff is going on.

I don't know if you are perceptive, or just very good hearted. But perhaps you are both!

This thread is polarized due to the nature of the subject matter. I expect to deal with insults and misrepresentations--and all sorts of games. I certainly am capable of answering in kind--and I think there is no doubt that I HAVE matched the insults--although I leave the misrepresentation entirely to certain others.

But this talk about being a member of Nazi "death squads" is beyond the pale, and must be recognized as being over the line. Furthermore, it must be remedied.

Adults should be able to police themselves and avoid extremes such as claiming terrible untruths against one another. I hate to make this moderated for that reason. Words such as asinine or doltish are all good words in the language. They do NOT reference anything illegal or anti-social. But I have never had sympathy for Naziism, and I have difficulty even killing a fly; so to defame me with the claim that I support illegal activities such as death squads and murder--well THAT is just too reckless, bizarre, and illegal.

I have asked him to refrain from such claims in the future, and have let him know he is quite welcome to freedom of speech and to fair comment--including insults and putdowns and derogations. Just that he avoid outright defamation and slander.

I hope that he will pay attention, as I prefer that the thread remain unmoderated--so that nobody feels they will be muzzled by caprice and whim as happens on so may threads.

Always good to hear from you!
