Water is a "sleeper" investment play that I've heard mentioned in recent years. Seemingly attractive, it has some hidden dangers as was seen in Bolivia a few years ago, when a Bechtel subsidiary was forced out of an investment in the privatized municipal water system of Cochabamba, Bo. The raising of water rates touched off lethal riots, and exacerbated political tensions in the country over use of natural resources. This is one of those hard to foresee political dangers for investors.

What do you see as a good water investment?
