tigerpaw,

re:Otherwise they are just wild-assed guesses

Also known as a hypothesis - I guess I don't get the fear of exposing students to commonly held beliefs in our society. Isn't school the place to freely discuss these ideas and allow them to learn by exploring all sides and drawing their own conclusions. Personally I've never really studied ID - what I have read is usually an attack on evolution as though that makes ID true. Whenever they discuss Columbus in school they never fail to mention his peers believed the world was flat - what a ridiculous "theory" that was. I would never support skipping that part of the story - it's useful on many levels. So to I believe when discussing evolution to acknowledge/mention or even teach the other competing theories/hypothesis is a reasonable thing to do. Exactly how long does it take to teach ID - OK, god or an alien created everything - done. Next theory, let's try one with some possible evidence this time.
