Ah, now you are in MY area of our complex world....
My training is music- And I have owned the full Phantom recording for years and would agree that this is a lovely piece.
But the seduction of his magic was illusionary in the end.
That's a lovely Nin quote!

Women can be generously symphathetic, Tom. If she inquires after dancing, "So, tell me all about the fascinating world of thermodynamics and your wonderful degrees," that's when you know she liked your dancing.

If she only complimented your dancing, you probably stepped on her toes often (likely, whilst simultaneously berating her for any technical dancing flaws that she ... "proffered"). It's a "special code" not usually proffered in the Engineering manuals.

"Well I am exceptional at a few dances, numerous ladies have complimented me as a fun dance partner."
