Buddy is correct, there were over a million people killed during the Iran/Iraq War. We know this because both the Iraqis and Iranians acknowledge the number (and both sides acknowledge that Iraq used Chemical Weapons to stop the Iranians - and Kurds). Of course it's not clear that after the Iran/Iraq war, Saddam's army was "trashed". As the Iraqis re-supplied their armed forces with not just Soviet Arms, but Chinese, South African, and European (Western and Eastern) - I recall before the first Gulf War (1991) Col. Hackworth argued that American Artillery was inferior to Artillery that Iraq had deployed.

"It's a faux statistic you made up..." It appears you are not familiar with the death toll among Iraqis and Iranians in the nearly-decade-long Gulf War of the 'eighties. Have you no memory of the 'human wave' tactics used by the Revolutionary Guard in the war's later days against the entrenched Iraqi fortifications? No memory of the poison gas attacks launched by Saddam against the Iranians? No memory of the mass slaughter in the Basra region? No memory of the civilian deaths and suffering from disease and privation? I suggest you utilize Google, or else find yourself a history book, and then educate yourself on the matter. Then, the polite thing for you to do would be to retract your obviously faulty complaint, WS.... [I'm quite sure NOTHING their report said would disagree with anything in my post --- it's straight out of the history books.] "I see you didn't read the report from the Iraq Survey Group then. ...If you did read it, you too would know how wrong your opinions (stated as fact) were." NAH, what I said was only confirmed by the ISG report, contrary to what you state. Here is the FULL test of my post again for reference: A million+ plus dead in the very expensive and bloody 10 year Gulf War... followed by the trashing of his remaining military by the US in Desert Storm, and subsequent years of application of a tourniquet to his revenues and ability to resupply occasioned by the US and the UN sanctions --- had pretty much pruned his tree down to a very low and unimpressive and sickly shrub --- by the time the US changed it's mind (different Bushs in office) and finished toppling him in a walk-over. Now, if you have an objection to anything in my post, then get real and actually WRITE DOWN WHAT YOU SPECIFICALLY HAVE A DISAGREEMENT WITH. If you wish to claim that the ISG report contradicted anything in my post... be so good as to show me where.
