Bushie Schmidt says nobody cares about the Iraq War, that they're all interested in making lower taxes permanent.

Huh? As 20 Ohioans are gunned down in Iraq. Nobody cares?

Actually per the latest polls people are most concerned about gas gouging, the out-sourcing of jobs and health care, all issues Bushies are responsible for making worse.

Then Iraq and terrorism. Which they have blown it on.

Taxes is not even in the top ten. In fact people are beginning to realize Bush's deficits are just a delayed tax which threatens the solvency of the government.

Clinton vetos of spending bills:

archives.cnn.com
evote.com

(Just a quick internet search)

While Clinton had the line item veto:

"Clinton wielded the veto to eliminate funding for a $600,000 solar aquatic wastewater treatment demonstration project in Vermont; a $2 million Chena River dredging project in Fairbanks, Alaska, to benefit a single tour boat operator; a $1 million corporate welfare grant to the Carter County Montana Chamber of Commerce; $900,000 for a Veterans Administration cemetery the VA says it doesn't need; $1.9 million for dredging a Mississippi lake that primarily serves yachts and pleasure boats; $500,000 for the Neabsco Creek Project in Virginia for removal of creek debris; and other such absurdities."

Because he HAD vetoed spending bills, he was also able to use the THREAT of vetoing bills to keep pork out of them. A Clinton practice Bush would do well to emulate. Bush has yet to veto ANY bill. Bush hasn't even threatened to veto a bill to maintain budget discipline.
