Chances are the bio-mom (or moms?) is a nice Christian girl who had sex before marriage and couldn't handle it.

I watched "Hamlet" last night on HBO, the one with Mel Gibson as Hamlet. Ophelia (Helena Bonham-Carter) sang a little ditty shortly before she killed herself, about a girl who complained that her boyfriend wouldn't marry her, and he said he would have only she slept with him first so he wasn't going to marry her.

By Gis and by Saint Charity,
Alack, and fie for shame!
Young men will do't if they come to't
By Cock, they are to blame.
Quoth she, 'Before you tumbled me,
You promis'd me to wed.'
(He answers)
'So would I 'a' done, by yonder sun,
An thou hadst not come to my bed.

Act IV, Scene v.

So the nice girl has the baby and gives it up for adoption.
