<<light had already changed red the yellow is a long yellow. he chose to keep moving through red. the intersection has had a few people killed in last ten years and finally put a light in... >> If it's a blind intersection, ie there's a building blocking the view of cross traffic and I'm first in line, I wait a second or two. Not long enough to get the horn but long enough to make sure cross traffic has cleared. Most intersection collisions happen within one second after the light changes.
