What are YOUR suggestions?

Never thought you would ask. But here goes.

We can be ourselves. Our founding fathers understood tyranny and they had a good understanding of all kinds of bad people. Our founding fathers were not stupid. They understood that governments can turn against the people they governed. That was their main thrust - to create checks and balances against people who held power. The Constitution was set up so that we do not turn into a police state.

Bad guys come and go, but bad government is much more difficut to get rid of.

It would be dangerous for all of us, if we allowed government to go after muslims using extraordinary means even if there were a lot of bad muslims.

It is not uncommon for really bad people to hide behind government and or good intentions to advance really evil causes.

Having said all that, how do we protect ourselves from terrorists who go about killing innocent people.

It is not mutually exclusive to be the good guys, do the right things, and come out on top.

In fact that is the only way to go about it.

Using evil means to fight evil is really stupid.

Fighting terrorism is not anything different.

Profiling in a stupid way - making life bad for a minority group of innocent people is not necessary.

Using purely random checks - based on some mathematical model - does not unnecessarily single out and/or humiliate any group of people and is the most efficient way to handle this problem until we find a more permanent longer term fix.

The "bad guys" can probably get around any other profiling schemes. They could disquise themselves, forge documents, forge backgrounds, and or get unwitting accomplices.

There is no way of being sure to get around purely random checks.
