"California was a powerhouse 30-40 years ago." because there were tons of moolah put there in the defense business. Cold War ended and defense moolah deserted California.

"Better controls and law changes are needed." You're right. I agree. Those controls should be based on a proper understanding of the 'legal' illegal' equation.

Immigration disusson tend to atract the lowest level people. People who are thinking with their stomach. Like: There are ten illegals coming. They are coming to eat my lunch.

There is no water enough. (Australia)

There's no land enough (Canada) most of our land is frozen north)

The environment will suffer, imagine a sewage system for those thousands of immigrants flocking here! (Switzerland)

there are those 'legals' 'illegals' coming to take money the state invest in me and pretty soon there is no more free lunch for me. (the European perspetcive)

First it is becessary to talk about immigration policy. All countries shoulw have this on top of their agendas. Then this discussion would atract inteligent people to it.
