You have to ask one of the Mexicans or Guatemalans. They can tell each other apart.

How do you tell the mexicans from the guatemalans? They look and sound identical to me.

There's a great movie, I think the title was "El Norte" which covers this. A brother and sister sneak into the US from Central America. They get caught by the border patrol and the border patrol guys can't figure out where they are from. Knowing that they will get sent back to whatever country the US officials think they are from (and they want to go back to Mexico since then it'll be easier to sneak back) they start to curse up a storm in Spanish (since every Mexican they've met since they left their own country uses terrible language). At that point the two border patrol guys look at each other and say in English, "They sound like Mexicans to me."
